About Us

Banff National Park, established in 1885, is Canada’s oldest national park. Parks Canada sets guidelines to preserve the natural beauty and ecological history of this region. The Town of Banff is a municipality that lies within Banff National Park and residents and visitors are required to abide by these guidelines.

What’s happening in May

Homegrown Art Show

When : May 6, 2022, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Where : Banff Town Hall, 110 Bear Street

Each spring Banff Town Hall hosts the work of artists from throughout the Bow Valley. This community exhibition is aimed at helping young, new and emerging artists share and celebrate their work with friends, families and other community members in a low-key setting. The exhibition kicks off with an open house event at Banff Town Hall on Friday, May 6 from 6 - 9 p.m.

Bear Aware Online

When : May 18, 2022, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Where : Online

Join the Town of Banff and Parks Canada in an interactive Bear Aware session that will have you learning how to be safe in bear country. The 60-minute online session will be led by two Parks Canada wildlife specialists and includes a presentation on how to identify different types of bears, common bear behaviours and tools and tips to prevent bear encounters.

Banff Farmers Market

When : May 25, 2022, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Where : Banff Park Museum parking lot

The Banff Farmers Market is held every Wednesday in the summer in the Banff Park Museum parking lot. Vendors sell everything from fruits and vegetables to artwork.

Soccer

When : May 8, 2022, 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM 

Where : Banff Elementary School

Come out and join others to kick the ball around in a fun pickup game of soccer. Balls, pinnies and nets are provided. Open to all genders and abilities.


Recreation

Central Park

Banff's own Central Park is located along the Bow River and provides an opportunity to enjoy nature in the heart of the Town of Banff.

Enjoy a stroll along the paved pathway by the Bow River, have your lunch at one of the picnic tables, and bring your kids to play on the natural playground.
